The Woman’s Club of Kountze and Friends of Kountze Public Library will co-sponsor Texas Summer Reading Club beginning in June. This year’s theme is “Dig Into Reading!” Pre-registration will begin May 28 at the library and go through June 10. Kids are encouraged to sign up during that time but books read cannot be counted until June 11.

Programs will take place in the Bevil Meeting Room of the library on Tuesdays, June 11, 18 and 25. All programs will begin at 10AM and there will only be one program per week.

Mrs. Niesy and her therapy dogs will lead off on June 11. Her friendly dogs have excellent temperaments and love visiting with kids while encouraging reluctant readers.

On June 18, Crystal Whiteside will be on hand with her puppets and on June 25, kids will be treated to a visit with Smokey the Bear. On that day, certificates will be presented to kids who read 10 books or more and have filled out a log of their titles read. (Parents may read to pre-schoolers and Kindergarteners). Children and their families are invited to attend all of the fun and interesting programs offered by the library this summer. All programs are free.
