Time |
| Story
time is presented the first Thursday of each month from 10:-10:30 AM at
the library. Traci Turner will be on hand to read to children during
that time. Please join us for these fun programs.

Kountze
EDC Awards $500
(2007)
The
Kountze Economic Development Corporation has awarded KPL an annual grant in
the amount of $500. This grant was used to add current titles to the Small
Business Resource Section which was originally established by the Kountze EDC
to help members of the community who have small business concerns. President
of Kountze EDC is local businessman, Carl Arthur Richardson. Many thanks to
the EDC for their support of the library.
KPL
Receives ExxonMobil Grant
The Library has
received a grant from the ExxonMobil Foundation on behalf of Marilyn Cox for
volunteer hours she has worked at the library. Marilyn and her husband Jerry,
who is an ExxonMobil retiree, participate in the Volunteer Involvement Program.
The program "seeks to encourage employees, retirees and other eligible
participants to actively contribute their time and talent to charitable
organizations by providing contributions on their behalf."
The Library has
also received a donation from the ExxonMobil Foundation's Cultural Matching Gift
Program on behalf of Sam R. Bethea, Sr. of Baytown, Texas. Mr. Bethea is an
ExxonMobil retiree as well.

Book Festival Grant Arrivals
Kountze
Public Library has received new Junior Biography titles funded with a Texas Book
Festival Grant. Among the titles are several biographies of film personalities,
celebrities and popular music icons such as Alan Jackson, Alicia Keys, Ashlee
Simpson, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Halle Berry, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Lopez,
Katie Couric, Kenny Chesney, Kate Hudson, Lindsay Lohan, and Mariah Carey.
Racing legend Jeff Gordon has authored (with Steve Eubanks) Racing Back To the
Front-My Memoir. Also new to the library: Travis Pastrana: Motocross Superstar,
Ricky Carmichael: Motocross Champion, Bmx Greats by Brian D. Fiske, and Dale
Earnhardt by A. R. Schaefer, African-American Inventors, Alexander the Great,
Adriana Ocampo, A. Randolph: Union Leader and Civil Rights Crusader, American
Generals of World War II, Andrew Carnegie: Steel King and Friend to Libraries,
Authors and Writers of the Harlem Renaissance, Barack Obama: Working to Make a
Difference, Bessie Coleman, George Armstrong Custer, George W. Bush, Hatshepsut:
First Female Pharaoh, Hunger for Learning: A Story about Booker T. Washington,
James Beckwourth: Legendary Mountain Man and Jefferson Davis. On your next
library visit, be sure to check the special display where these books are
showcased.
