Mission Statement

The mission of KPL is to create lifelong readers and learners by promoting the use of quality library services for all members of the community. The library will offer materials, programs and technology to serve the educational, cultural and recreational needs of its users.
Location & Stats
The Kountze Public Library (KPL) is located at 800 S. Redwood Avenue, Kountze, Texas. It is directly across from the Kountze Police Department and behind the Kirby Hill House Museum. KPL is a department of the City of Kountze and a member of Texas State Library and Archives Commission and CTLS, Inc. (Connecting Texas Libraries Statewide), formerly Central Texas Library System.  

The library provides a host of free services to its users. The library holds over 24,844  materials including over 16,453 books, and 1,114 audio volumes, 1,422 video volumes, 83 electronic books, and 15 serial subscriptions. In 2014, library materials had 24,032 circulations. Over 7,077 library users are registered card holders.

What the Library Offers
OverDrive e-books, e-audiobooks and a selection of videos are available to Kountze library card holders  through the Piney Woods Digital Consortium. Patrons can access them through the library website at www.kountzelibrary.org or by visiting  pwdl.lib.overdrive.com. The entire 13-digit patron ID number must be used when logging in.  

In 2014, the library recorded 23,535 visits from library users who entered the library to check out library materials, utilize print and electronic reference resources, access the Internet through the Library’s free 24/7 Wi-Fi access, participate in computer and Internet training, view a Library exhibit, or attend one of the Library’s events. Public access computers are available for children and adults. KPL adheres to the Child Internet Protection Act and filters its computers.
